What should you expect?

The first step may be the toughest – calling or emailing me to set up a first session. You can fill out the Intake information before we meet, or we can fill it out together. Then we will chat openly about your goals and expectations, any fears or concerns you may have, and we’ll decide together how to proceed. We’ll discuss how many sessions to expect and how to measure our progress. Each session is $80 for fifty-minutes, and pro-rated if we decide that longer sessions may be necessary.

In sessions, we will talk about who you are and how you came to be you. We will talk about the conflicts and challenges you currently face, where they originate from and how to resolve them.

We’ll develop communication skills, like avoiding ‘don’t-wants’ and saying what you mean: when someone only tells us what they don’t want and what they don’t like, it’s confusing, disorienting and aggravating, as opposed to when we can say what we would like and be explicit and specific. Resolving conflicts is about effective communication and negotiation – with ourselves and our loved ones. When we say what we mean, it’s a relief to everyone – we are understood and can be heard more easily.

Just changing from don’t-wants to would-likes can leave you feeling more positive and understood. This is just one example of many of the skills we can work on together.
